EDUC 5231 (I/S) Pedagogy of the Arts is a large lecture course taught to all Junior/Intermediate (grades 4-8) and Intermediate/Senior (grades 7-12) teacher candidates in the Faculty of Education. This course examines how the arts contribute to schools and to society. The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and refine their knowledge of the principles, pedagogies, and materials associated with teaching school music at the intermediate and senior levels. Students will explore the role of music educators and the place of music in schools and community, as well as the learning processes experienced by students in intermediate/senior school music. |
